Apex Observer News (AON) Correction Policy

At Apex Observer News, our mission is to deliver accurate, reliable, and fair reporting. We understand that errors—be they factual, typographical, or contextual—can occur. When they do, we are committed to correcting the record quickly and transparently.

1. Our Standard for Accuracy

AON strives for “First-Time Accuracy.” However, if a report contains an error, our priority is to fix it across all platforms (web, social media, and newsletters) as soon as the mistake is verified.

2. Types of Corrections

We distinguish between minor clerical errors and substantive factual changes:

  • Substantive Corrections: If a factual error changes the understanding of a story, we will update the text and include a clear Correction Note at the top or bottom of the article. This note will state what was wrong and when it was fixed.

  • Clarifications: If the facts are technically accurate but the phrasing is misleading or lacks necessary context, we will issue a Clarification to ensure complete transparency.

  • Minor Fixes: Typos, grammatical errors, or spelling mistakes that do not alter the facts of the story may be corrected without a formal note.

3. Social Media and Distributed Content

If an error is published on social media (X, Facebook, etc.), we will post a corrected version or a threaded reply acknowledging the error. If the error is egregious, we may delete the post and issue a fresh one with a “Correction” disclaimer.

4. Removal (Unpublishing) Policy

As a matter of editorial policy, AON does not “unpublish” or delete articles simply because a source changes their mind or because the content is no longer “favorable” to a subject.

  • We will only consider removing content under extraordinary circumstances, such as legal mandates or cases where the content poses a direct threat to physical safety.

  • If a story is found to be fundamentally flawed or retracted in its entirety, we will replace the content with an explanation of why it was removed.

5. How to Report an Error

We welcome and encourage feedback from our readers. If you believe you have found an error in our reporting, please contact our editorial team:

  • Email: [corrections@aonews.com]

  • Subject Line: Correction Request: [Title of Article]

  • Requirements: Please include a link to the story, the specific text you believe is incorrect, and any supporting evidence or documentation.

Why This Works

  • Builds Trust: By inviting readers to report errors, you turn them into partners in accuracy.

  • Legal Protection: Having a clear, public policy can be a helpful “good faith” defense in the event of defamation claims.

  • Consistency: It gives your editors a clear “playbook” so corrections are handled the same way every time.
